About us

District of Future is an FP7 project for the Directorate General Communications Networks, Content and Technology within the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development. Also known as A Modular Open Big Data Energy Optimising Framework for cities. Supporting the main goals of the European Commission’s (EC) research and innovation policy: making Europe a better place to live and work, improving Europe's competitiveness, growth and job creation while tackling the main current and future societal challenges.

    Objectives & Outcomes

    The main objective is to achieve quantifiable and significant reduction up to 30 to 40% of energy consumption and CO2 emissions in European cities.

    What is District of Future?

    District of Future is the result of the elaboration of a vertical Use Case Scenario based on Renewable, efficiency and gas emission reduction in European cities.

  • Smart Cities

    Smart Cities

    A Smart City is a city well performing, built on the ‘smart’ combination of endowments and activities of self-decisive, independent and aware citizens.
